Turmeric, while making everything it touches yellow, also can be a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. I’ve always added a healthy teaspoon to my breakfast smoothie, which also contains enough cocoa powder not to turn yellow, but using it with vegetables or tofu will give your dish a sunshine glow.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that. My latest alchemy with ground turmeric was with a simple stir fry, actually what the Bird’s Eye package listed as “The Ultimate Stir Fry.” And I have to say it is pretty tasty.
Quick Turmeric Stir Fry
One bag of frozen stir-fry blend vegetables (I used a 14 oz. bag, which makes a generous single serving; add more of the spices that follow if you use a bigger bag for multiple servings)
1-2 teaspoons turmeric
1-2 teaspoons curry powder (to taste)
1/2 teaspoon ginger (optional; I add it for an anti-inflammatory boost)
1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder
Water-sauté the vegetables then add the spices, stirring to combine over medium-high heat.
This goes together in less than five minutes. Serve over rice or millet.
Hopefully, you will find this both easy and maybe leaving you pain-free in your joints after eating it!
